These jellies are incredibly simple to make and are a great snack or dessert for the whole family. Don’t be put off by the agar flakes, a natural gelling agent made of a sea vegetable. They are found in most health food stores and a number of larger supermarkets, and they last ages in the cupboard.

  1. Put the apple juice in a small saucepan and sprinkle agar over the top. Bring to the boil without stirring. Once boiling, reduce heat to simmer gently and stir until the agar is dissolved (this doesn’t take long). Remove from the heat.
  2. Divide fruit between 6 ramekin dishes and pour the liquid over. Leave to cool to around room temperature then put in the fridge to finish setting.
